Solo

Solo is a mobile app that helps solo travelers plan and navigate their trips with confidence. Created as part of a UX/UI course, it focuses on simplifying the solo travel experience.

Why This Project?

As a solo traveler, I experienced firsthand the challenges of planning trips alone, from organizing itineraries to finding reliable information and feeling confident navigating new places. This project was inspired by my desire to explore how a thoughtfully designed app could support solo travelers by reducing uncertainty, increasing confidence, and making the planning process feel more approachable.

The Problem

Planning trips alone can be stressful for solo travelers. Organizing itineraries, finding reliable safety information, and keeping track of activities is often overwhelming. Existing travel apps don’t provide guidance tailored to solo travelers, creating a need for a tool that simplifies planning and builds confidence.

Research

To understand the challenges of planning trips as a solo traveler, I reviewed similar travel apps and reflected on my own experiences.

From this, I created user flows to map key interactions and identify opportunities to reduce friction, simplify planning, and increase confidence.

This exploratory research helped guide design decisions and prioritize features that would be most valuable for solo travelers.

Wireframes

Based on the user flows, I created wireframes to visualize the key screens and interactions of the Solo app.

These wireframes helped me experiment with layout, hierarchy, and functionality, ensuring that planning trips would feel intuitive and streamlined for solo travelers.

They served as a foundation for iterating on design and refining the overall user experience.

Final Designs

After iterating on the wireframes, I created high-fidelity designs for the Solo app, combining a clean layout with playful illustrations to make the experience approachable and engaging. The final screens reflect the key flows and features, helping solo travelers plan trips confidently while enjoying a visually welcoming interface.

Illustrated onboarding guiding solo travelers through the app while creating an engaging and welcoming first impression.

Central dashboard giving solo travelers an overview of their trip, upcoming activities, and personalized recommendations.

City guide highlighting safety tips and essential information to help travelers feel prepared and confident.

Activity planning flow allowing users to discover and organize experiences, making solo travel engaging and stress-free.

What Next?

As a next step, I would test the app with real solo travelers to refine navigation, feature priorities, and the effectiveness of the illustrations in guiding users.

This project strengthened my skills in designing for independence, creating engaging visual experiences, and thinking holistically about user journeys.
